Yes, I'm basically complaining. Not to get your sympathy so much as to let it out.
Last Wednesday/Thursday, baby really wasn't moving - sometimes at all. After about 15 hours
I started paying REALLY close attention and tried to get her to move (eat, lay down, shower,
poke/push, talk, etc.). I spent all day Thursday doing this and was really worried all day.
I talked to Than when he came home and he encouraged me to call. My midwife ordered an
ultrasound and non-stress test, so we went straight to the hospital. My fluid level seemed low,
but otherwise things looked okay. Since it seemed low, my midwife ordered the same tests as a
follow-up at a different hospital Friday morning. Our little Stinker (who wouldn't move for
anything all day) immediately kicked the monitor twice as soon as they put it on my stomach.
Thursday night I slept terribly. So after having breakfast with Than, I took a nap until they called
to tell me what time to come in. I hurried and got ready. I was about to call to cancel my
dentist appointment when I realized I had left my phone. Then I spilled water all over my lap
because I hadn't screwed my bottle lid on tight. Once I got to the hospital, I drove around and
around trying to figure out where to go in and where to park. I made it, but was a little late.
While registering, the lady said that they didn't take my insurance. And, if they didn't take it,
then neither does the hospital I was at the night before. Uh-oh. Now we get to figure out
how to pay for some outrageous bills.
Our insurance changed at the start of the new year. Nathaniel had checked to see that the
midwifes were still covered, and they are. But the hospital where they work is not.
How lame is that? A nice receptionist let me into the office to call my insurance. I talked to
some really cranky lady who wasn't very helpful even though I was being polite. The
receptionist even helped me make some phone calls and gave me a mini candy bar when
I left 1 1/2 hours later. So I didn't get the tests done there, but got the order changed and
headed to yet another hospital that is covered by our insurance.
I stopped home to get my phone and a sandwich. At the next hospital I went from one desk
to another and back again. Then a nurse took me to the other side of the hospital where I waited,
registered, waited and then had the ultrasound. Things seemed okay. Then I went back to one
of the first desks and they put me in a room and said, "We'll be right with you." Almost 45 minutes
later I poked my head out the door to see what was going on. Two nurses got wide-eyed when they
saw me, and one came in to start the 20-minute procedure. She said she'd be back in 15 minutes.
An hour later, a different nurse came in to unhook everything and tell me I could go home
(after almost 3 hours).
What an ordeal that was. Until yesterday I figured I'd have to switch doctors/midwives even
though I'm 36 weeks because I can't go to the hospital that we had originally planned on. But,
as it turns out, there is a new midwife who has rights at the hospital that I can go to. So
thankfully I can continue to go to their clinic and then she can come to the new hospital when I
have my baby. But it is still like getting a new doctor because I haven't even met her yet...
And now I'm sick. I have laryngitis. I never knew laryngitis could be sooo painful. It kind of
started Friday but really hit me on Saturday evening. I drinking a lot, sleeping, using a humidifier,
etc. and I hardly seem to be better. Maybe my cough isn't quite as bad, and my throat doesn't hurt
ALL the time now. However, now I am congested with a very runny nose (gotta love when that happens),
with occasional headaches and sneezing. My coughing and sneezing is such that I'm sure my baby
must be experiencing some trauma every time. I guess I'm really frustrated becaue I managed to actually stay healthy for sooo long, and I was trying so hard to stay healthy during my pregnancy. Sigh.

Wow- never again will I pity myself. THAT, does not sound fun at all- and of course, all that has to happen during the late, unenjoyable stages of pregnancy. Lina, it's nice to know you are normal- I was beginning to think you were one of those perfectly optimistic type of people. Which, you still are- but I agree it IS nice to get it out sometimes. I am glad your baby is still alive and well. Good luck girl! And I need to give you your presents. Are you guys going to be around here at all or would you like me to drive down and visit? Is there anything I can do for you???

Goodness Linda, I don't know what to say. You definitely don't deserve to be put through all this that's for sure. I'm so sorry. I can't believe you are 36 weeks. It's getting so close. I sure do hope you get feeling better promptly.
What a week you have been through! I am sorry to hear about all that you have had to put up with!! When you are pregnant everything that happens to you is magnified. I hope it helped to let it all out a bit. I just got over larengitis, and it IS the pits. I am very sorry that sickness had to be on top of everything else! Keep hangin in there! Your doing great!

Oh Lina, What a whole ordeal that you went through. I am sorry. I am glad though that a. your baby is okay, b. you still can stay at the hospital, c.you were able to get things straightened out with insurance. I hope you get feeling better. It always seems if it is not one thing, it is another, which isn't what you need now on top of expecting. Maybe you can talk your sweet husband into getting you a smothie-I just got over a terrible cold,and it helped. Know I have you in my thoughts and prayers. This too shall pass, but I am glad you were able to vent and get it out.
I'm so sorry you're having a yuck week. I seem to be doing things opposite of you. I keep getting sick one thing after another, but nothing as traumatic as laryngitis! I'm glad you'll still be able to use the same clinic with the different hospital!
I hate the getting the sickies!!! I hope you are feeling better. I hope that you find a good Doctor and I hope the hospital you are going to is a good one and I mostly hope that your baby is doing better. You need to be treated like a queen when you are 36 weeks pregnant. I know. Still I can't wait to see pictures of your baby when she gets here. :)
What a trooper! That must have been an exhausting day! I guess the good thing is, that you found out that hospital doesn't take your insurance now so you won't have a $5,000-$7500 or more bill once you have your baby. Money is so stressful & that's the last thing you need when you are this close to delivering!
I hope you feel better! Being prego & sick is definitely NOT ideal! Hopefully you feel better by delivery for sure! Enjoy the last few weeks of pregnancy! Life is going to change so much in a hectic, sleepy, but WONDERFUL way!!!
I am so sorry that you had to go through so much! And it is not fun to be sick and pregnant! I sure hope everything gets better! I am so excited you r going to have a baby! I LOVE being a Mommy! Good luck!
I'm so sorry it's been a hassle and a stress. I used to get a bit worried near the end because Amy didn't move as much as she used to. I'm glad your baby gave a good kick though at the first appointment. So sorry about the insurance. I hope the new midwife is SUPER nice and easy to get to know fast.
Sounds like you've been having fun. I hope things start turning around and that Nathaniel is taking good care of you.
Lina! I'm sorry. If I were with you at the doctor's office I would've marched up to those nurses and said, "Excuse me? My friend has had a rough few days. Can you continue your conversation AFTER you help her?" Grr.
