10 Months

Minutes after I told my grandma that Anika can't climb stairs yet, guess what she did!
She is also cruising around the furniture and a speedy little crawler.

She LOVES to get into EVERYTHING! She has enjoyed peek-a-boo for some
time now, but lately she will hold a cloth or jacket or whatever in
front of her face and put down... up... down... up...

Anika started this new growling thing. It is very funny. Sometimes it
sounds more like Donald Duck than growling though.

You can see her two bottom teeth. One top tooth is through, and another looks like it is
on the way. Yes she still has a binkie... Anyway, sometimes even when it is not in and she
is about to eat, she makes this cute swipe motion to take the binkie that is not there out.
You'd have to see it, but it is cute. She also like to try to put her binkie in our mouths too.

She also loves to stand and look out our bedroom window. She can barely see.
We like to gooutside and wait for Than to come home. She gets so excited and
makes this little squealsound while twirling her ankles and flapping her arms.
He wears safety/sunglasses while biking, and she likes to take them off,
play for a few seconds, and then try to put them back on him.

She gives slobbery kisses but won't wave. She got her first kiss from a boy at the movies;
how typical. We went to Toy Story 3 on Saturday and a little boy who was
also at the back of the theater with his mom was playing near Anika.
He leaned in while she started to giggle, and...

She has found the toilet paper. It is now sitting on the counter instead.

Another fun place to play - our closet!

It is getting cold, but we still usually go on walks. It is nice when Than can come along too.

Here she is helping me with pictures on the computer. I usually do anything
computer-related while she is asleep because she is so helpful :)

In the leaves, helping plant tulip bulbs.

Fleeing the scene of the crime. Clean socks into the dirty clothes. Dirty clothes onto the floor.

She was very content while we played choose-your-own-target frisbee golf.

In the closet again. You may think I am not watching her with all these pictures of messes.
But, I actually let her make them because it is something that will actually keep her
busy for awhile. She isn't a huge fan of actual toys...

Our Little Eater. She LOVES food. She loves to eat. She has had soooo many different kinds of food. Nathaniel calls her our Little Connoisseur.

Looking out the window again.

Busy, busy, busy!

October Stuff

Trick or Treat

Hooray for Saver's costumes!

Anika was a cow for Halloween.

We went to a pumpkin walk in Orem. Here Anika is about to swing with Grandma and
Grandpa Hardman. There were some nifty pumpkins and free Krispy Kreme donuts!

We got invited to go to a pumpkin walk in Logan, but sadly declined due to a fussy baby. Here is my friend, Kris. She is amazing! I was able to stop by her shower for just a bit while Anika was napping before we had family pictures and other stuff. I stole this picture from her blog...

Anika was also a pumpkin for Halloween. We went to a little gym's Halloween party
with our friends. Their son takes a class there.

Anika was practicing her beam routine

... and the dismount!

We went to a pumpkin patch...

with lots of pumpkins...

and crazy, big pumpkins...

with our friends.

Anika and Than are looking for some good pumpkins...

Here is a cute pumpkin :)

Here she is eating a pumpkin.

We also went to a puppet show done by Nathaniel's aunt. It was fun.
My parents came down to visit. It was wonderful of them because we had planned to go up there, but we have been a bit crazy lately and Anika still doesn't like the car. It was soooo nice of them to come!
We missed our ward party because Anika was sick. I had even made apple cake cupcakes for the contest.

Farfar

FRANKLIN AUNE

http://mi-cache.legacy.com/legacy/images/Cobrands/DeseretNews/Photos/0000628868-02-1_184407.jpgFranklin A Aune 1920 ~ 2010 Franklin A Aune died peacefully, surrounded by family, at home in West Jordan, Utah, October 11, 2010. He was bom December 15, 1920 in Bergen, Norway to Arne Marius Aune and Clara Salome Jensen. He married Birgith M Jorgensen September 7, 1946 in Bergen, Norway. Their marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple in 1949, soon after immigrating to America in late 1948. After being baptized when he was nine, Franklin served faithfully in many callings of responsibility in the LDS Church and he helped rear five sons to be active members of the Church. Franklin loved and sacrificed much for his family, including emigrating from Norway to Utah to give his family a better life. With his support, five sons went on missions and all five received college degrees. Franklin was known as a hard and dependable worker. He also loved camping and taking his sons fishing. He is survived by sons, Arne (Linda), Frank (Becky), Brent, Ray (Sheri), Rulon; a brother, Kenneth; sisters, Bella Gaarder and Adel Nielsen; 18 grandchildren (who knew him as Farfar) and 21 great grandchildren. Services will be at noon, Sat., Oct. 16, 2010 in the Forestview Ward, 1111 Charlton Ave (2815 S), Salt Lake City, where friends may call 10:30 -11:45 a.m. Interment, Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park. Franklin's family expresses thanks to Intermountain Home Care for their devotion and care to Dad.

My grandpa (Farfar, my father's father) passed away on Monday. I guess he decided
to spend the holidays and celebrate both his and my grandma's birthday with my grandma.
He talked and had dreams about making hjortebakkel (sounds like yo tuh bah kuh)
during the last couple weeks. Maybe they'll be making some together this Christmas.

Even though he was unresponsive, we were able to get there before and say good-bye.
Sometimes the whole thing still feels like a weird dream. He had had a rough
couple of weeks after a fractured vertebrate that left his legs paralyzed.

I am glad that on Conference Sunday we were able to have a good visit with him.
He told us the Lord's been good to him. He told us about all the fruits and vegetables he
grew at his house in Sugarhouse. He lived in that house from 1948 until 2009 when
he moved in with my parents. He did lots of home canning, cooking, and especially baking!
He was the one that got me hooked on apricot leather :) When we would go to visit
Farmor and Farfar, they ALWAYS had krumkaker to share. They also often
had apricot nectar to drink. He would mix it with Sprite.

I noticed his bedside table with a container of orange slices, a bowl of Cheetos, a cup of water,
a magnifying glass for reading and a box of tissues as I asked if there was anything I could get for him.
He said, "No. Ray (my dad) takes good care of me. He knows what I need."

I didn't know this until he started living with my parents, but it wasn't uncommon
to hear Farfar singing Norwegian songs and lullabye's to himself as he went about his day.
It was fun to hear him sing them to Anika as she sat on his lap.
I wish I had asked him to sing another for her that day.

He was always SO FRUGAL! I have never met anyone more so. He had lived through
the Great Depression and WWII in Norway when the Germans rationed their food.
As I looked around the room, I noticed pictures of his family, wife, and children. He also
had an American flag and two Norwegian flags. I noticed his scriptures behind him
on the headboard; he was so good about reading his scriptures. He knew what was important.

It will be sad to make Norwegian cookies, have a traditional Norwegian Christmas Dinner,
and continue our other Christmas traditions without him, but I am glad that we have
so many traditions to celebrate and help us remember our Farmor and Farfar!
